Protect Your Property From Winter

Every year, there is an exhaustive checklist of things that most homeowners will care for to prepare their property for colder weather. The following is by no means a complete list, but it may remind you of something that could save you a lot of time and money if you look after it before critical winter weather.

The outside of your home will naturally take the biggest beating from the cold, ice, and snow. It’s typically a good idea to paint, caulk, and seal exterior wood, and seal any masonry or hard surfaces. Drain your sprinklers, as well as any exterior faucets.

Think about safety, as well. Are there any low-hanging or damaged tree branches around your property? Are your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors working properly? Since the winter poses the highest threat of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning, it’s important to protect yourself and your family from this potential threat.
